It's been a week full of Italian food from around the web. Looks like everyone is back from the holidays - cooking and eating again. For recipes, we go to Rome for a savory pie and Gnocchi alla Romana, then to Northern Italy for a few hearty dishes - stews from Piedmont and Milan and a meatloaf in Tuscany. There's also a link to homemade bread and a few desserts. Eating Italy has much to offer, too. Eating in Venice, Milan, Rome, Abruzzo & more. Wine in Umbria. Breakfast Italian style & a recipe contest. And don't forget that January 17th is International Day of Italian Cuisine. Buon Appetito!

I love the tray of pastries! One of these days I will write a bit about the tradition of buying pastries for the Sunday lunch. Thanks for the inspiration. I also have a funny story about baba al rum. Have a great week!

Hi Kathy,
Have enjoyed your site the last few weeks. Will Ryer gave me your info after many conversations about good food and travel and how your site was a perfect match. He is definitely right! I have passed on to my friends in Provence and my Italian friends too. We will have great references from your blogs on new and exciting places to visit on our next travels. Diane Bonfert/Los Angeles
