Many aspects of Italy may be crazy, chaotic and unpredictable, but there is at least one thing that is certain in Italy - the food. There is no doubt that with every season and every holiday, there are specific foods and dishes to go with them. And as February and Carnival time rolls around, everyone is eating fried treats....either the roundish "doughnut" type or those flat fried strips. Both of these go by different names, changing with each region and possibly even with each city. Whatever the name the fried Carnival treats are everywhere. This week's recipes links include a few of those Carnival treats.
In Eating Italy, there are two things that dominate the links this week. The first is the International Wine Tourism Conference that just ended in Perugia. Blog posts have started appearing, and I have some of them for you. Then, CNN went a little Rome crazy this week giving us three videos on the city - which include lots of tasty views - and a "best of Rome" report. Along with these events, there's a piece on historic cafes in Turin and a Sicilian pastry shop in Rome. Enjoy & Buon Appetito!

Nice, as always. I wrote about Dagnino pastries a while ago. Getting pastries from them was one of the highlights of our visits to Rome when I was a kid.
