Cook, eat, drink and discover this amazing "off-the-tourist-track" region in Southern Italy!
We've specially designed a delicious 8-day/7-night food and wine lover's journey in Puglia. One in which you'll not only taste the many delicacies of the region, but you'll also cook them! You'll be immersed in the culture, lifestyle and traditions of the people of the region. You'll have EXCLUSIVE access, that no other tour provides, and "behind-the-scenes" entrance inside professional kitchens and homes of locals.
A CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL JOURNEY THROUGH FOOD! This vacation will be so much more than cooking and eating. You'll meet many of the locals, be touched by how warm and welcoming they are and by their passion for their region and their food. It will be a truly local and memorable experience where you'll go home having made many new Pugliese friends!
Each vacation is limited to a maximum of 12 participants. The small group ensures you more personal attention and a more authentic experience. I and our local guide will be with you the entire trip. Where is Puglia? ~
Puglia is the region at the "heel" of Italy's "boot." We'll be staying in the southernmost province, Salento. It's "kissed" (as they say) on both sides by the deep blue sea - the Ionian to the west & the Adriatic to the east. Often called the "California of Italy" and referred to as "Tuscany without the crowds," Salento boasts a cuisine based on cucina povera (poor kitchen), vegetables, local olive oil & seafood. The countryside is an endless stretch of olive trees and blue skies. Salento's capital is the baroque beauty of Lecce, and we'll stay in a gorgeous and spacious four-star masseria located just minutes from the sea and the city of Lecce.
On the first day, you'll be welcomed by me with a light welcome lunch, your "Food Lovers in Puglia" apron and a fabulous gift bag. After an afternoon relaxing by the pool or strolling the grounds, we'll get the Puglia party started with an introduction to Puglia wines and wine tasting, followed by a welcome dinner in Lecce.
The Masseria where we'll stay in Salento:
PRIVATE GROUP TOURS AVAILABLE: We also provide private group and custom-made food lover's tours in Puglia. If you have a group of 4 or more people and would like to take a private and/or custom-designed Food Lover's Tour in Puglia, like this one or one of any length of time (4,5,7,10 days), please contact me at chefkathyayer [at] yahoo [dot] com to arrange.
